Air density, denoted by the Greek letter ρ (rho), refers to the mass of air per unit volume in Earth's atmosphere. It is a measure of how tightly packed air molecules are in a given space.

Factors Affecting Air Density

Air density is primarily influenced by altitude, temperature, and pressure. As altitude increases, air density decreases due to the lower number of air molecules present. Similarly, as temperature increases, air density decreases because the molecules expand and take up more space. Conversely, higher pressure results in increased air density as the molecules are compressed into a smaller volume.
